Dalia Shvartsman is pursuing her Master of Music in violin performance at the University of Delaware under the tutelage of Professor Xiang Gao, while also studying viola with Dr. Elias Goldstein and voice with Hannah Hieronimus. She earned her BMA from Penn State University under Professor James Lyon in addition to a BA in Psychology. Reflecting her passion for pedagogy and education, her honors thesis researched how music can be used as a vehicle to develop emotional granularity— the ability to recognize and name emotions in ourselves and others. Now, in addition to teaching privately at University of Delaware’s Community Music School and Mannington Music School, she uses this knowledge to develop the SoundWorld of Schnittke Music Program. Beyond her musical pursuits, Shvartsman is passionate about learning languages, writing, and translating Russian poetry into English. She enjoys playing on an Oliver Radke instrument loaned to her by the Virtu Foundation.
